Its often that I am booked while extended family is visiting my clients…as a chance to capture some special moments with those who live so very far away most of the year. These shoots are both special and sweet, but also a reminder that many of our lives as expats mean forgoing the constants of family and close friends back “home”. This sweet family is very similar to mine, in that both the lovely Triin and her sweet hubby hail from different home countries, making a lifetime of split vacations, or short ones anyway, in the interest of spending time with important folks with very different passports. They reminded me how much stock our families put into loving our children, who are still little and require much effort to maintain bonds.
While Grandparents try their hardest, they just miss so much with our babies while we choose to pursue career or dreams abroad. Seeing these adorable people’s love for this little girl (and her soon to be sibling) made me think of my own family, and how much they must wish we lived nearer. We choose an amazing life as an expat, but this is one of the drawbacks, and its wonderful to watch a family who seem determined to love strongly over borders, and over space.
Thank you guys for letting me visit and photograph your beautiful family!
