Sometimes when a new baby comes in to do a newborn shoot, I find myself thinking about what an amazing life the little one has already had…most of my clients come to me through a network of other expats, so many times, the baby is being born very very far away from their parents homelands. I always imagine these babies being the most interesting person in a room in 15 years, by the sole advantage they will have had in the first few very impressionable years of their lives.
Aside from that, sometimes little ones come in with their extended families, and I get a glimpse of the love that engulfs this tiny person who has no idea what kind of support awaits them. This latest session was a perfect example of this. When Katelyn contacted me for a newborn shoot she mentioned that both sets of grandparents would be in town and asked if we could include them in a few shots…YES! I love that! I had NO idea that it meant that I would actually be able to document the first second that this sweet baby’s maternal grandmother and grandfather would set their eyes on her…what an incredible honor and the very sweetest of moments. I recognized the knowing look Katelyn’s mother cast to her own baby, a proud, “look at the beauty you have brought into this world” look that you can only receive from your parents. A moment I remember fondly from my own life. We were able to include the whole family, and the absolute sense was that this tiny baby girl, had somehow hung the moon in the past few days.
Thank you to Katelyn, Mateo, little baby Chiara and the rest of your beautiful family, for allowing me to be a small part of your first few days as a family.
